Jack Layton – Prince of Peace?
The Dalai Lama is on his way to Vancouver next week. But before his holiness arrives to preach peace and compassion, he might want to check whether NDP leader Jack Layton will be in town. He wouldn’t want to get upstaged by Canada’s new peace-plan man.
Layton’s latest mark of genius is a proposal to pull all but a token force of Canadian troops out of Afghanistan by February – essentially leaving the rest of the country to be snatched up by the resurgent Taliban, unless our NATO allies can take up the slack. I’ve written about Jack’s odd mistatements before, but he never actually put forward a timeline before for when we’d be leaving the Afghanis to their medieval overlords.
I’ve put together a short video on this little episode that you can check out above. You could also check it out on Youtube here. Enjoy.
