In an entirely predictable development, Vancouver’s rat population is booming.
Thanks to our surly sanitation engineers (who reportedly make $45,700 a year, plus a generous municipal benefits package) on strike, our rodents are living large.
My personal concerns have been mitigated since finding out that my building already uses private contractors to take away our trash. Still, it won’t be any less disconcerting to find whiskers and beady little eyes staring up at me on my way to work.
