CityView: Emergency preparedness in an earthquake zone

Published by at 11:01 pm under Uncategorized

An earthquake hit the Pacific coast today (I’m fine, Mom). I didn’t feel it, which is probably a good thing; the fragile Prohibition-era brick building where I spend most of my workday looks sort of like it would fall if someone tapped the front door with a hammer. Every time a controlled explosion goes off from downtown construction (every other hour) my heart skips a beat. I’ve already developed a bit of a nervous tic.

But for those Vancouver locals who feel like taking a more active role in their own survival, Vancouver City Hall is an excellent source for emergency preparedness resources. When the big one hits, hopefully a good number of us will have taken a read.
