WorldView: Kosovo, congratulations. Don’t get any big ideas, PQ

Published by at 9:38 pm under Uncategorized

Odd that of all the ink spent on Kosovo’s declaration of independence, I have yet to see any Canadian commentators bringing up the more local issue of Quebec separatism.

Hopefully the news out of Kosovo doesn’t give our own separatists any ideas about unilaterally declaring independence. Federalist politicians aren’t the only ones who can be expected to grossly overreach when it comes to sloganeering.

Wait for it.

You probably won’t hear much from Quebec about it.

The policy Kosovo is establishing means regions of Quebec can also go their own way. It is the Swiss cheese model of Independence.

The Northern half of Quebec has already had a referendum to do just that if Quebec leaves Canada – they had about 95% Yes vote in their referendum

Trudeau made Charlie Watt – then a young hot headed Inuit leader – a Senator for staging the referendum.

Sheila Watt Cloutier – the Inuk leader who was up for a Noble prize last year, is Charlie’s sister.
