"Social marketing," eh Narvey? Like I was telling you on FaceBook, environmentalism is generally not a commendable pursuit; it appears to be largely about preening and hectoring, and it is uncouth. The true signal text of the movement is not "An Inconvenient Truth," but "Ferngully: The Last Rainforest"; its most representative figure is not David Suzuki, but Tre Arrow. As to Greenist ad campaigns...? As I was saying to you, I saw this IFAW poster at the bus stop today: "250,000 BABY SEALS ARE ABOUT TO BE SLAUGHTERED -- AND YOU CAN'T GET CELL PHONE COVERAGE -- GET ANGRY FOR THE RIGHT REASONS." So I did, Narvey; I added to the sign, in felt pen: "I WAS TRYING TO CALL YOU GUYS TODAY TO REPORT A POTENTIAL CASE OF OTTER ABUSE -- BUT YOUR INCOMPETENT RECEPTIONIST, I THINK HER NAME WAS WATERMELON SUZUKI, SENT ME TO THE JANITOR'S VOICE MAIL THREE TIMES -- AND NOW MY CELL PHONE BATTERY IS EXHAUSTED AND I AM PISSED OFF, HOPEFULLY FOR THE RIGHT REASONS, ALTHOUGH THE OTTER IN QUESTION IS STILL ANXIOUS AND TRAUMATIZED AND COULD PERHAPS BE SOOTHED BY THE LIKES OF TZEPORAH BERMAN IF ONLY I HAD SOME FUCKING CELL PHONE COVERAGE."

With all due respect, Fred, I think you've missed the point. Environmentalism isn't merely about global warming (whether one believes that it is happening or not -- and Environment Canada's hard data about high temperature increases in our northern territories is not mere propaganda).

Going green is essentially about living sustainably. Whether or not the climate will change is beside the point. It's really about ensuring our quality of life we enjoy today can be continued into the future if we make the right choices about where we live, what we buy and how we get around.

Frankly, issues like impacts on human health of pollution and our ability to prevent a regional or global economic and societal collapse from the scarcity of basic resources are just some of the big issues environmentalists want to deal with now. Focusing on the global warming "debate" to the neglect of all the other issues -- as you have done -- seems imprudent, to say the least.

Will anyone ask these good folks about the fact that Global Warming isn't anymore, that the oceans and the atmosphere are cooling ?

Probably not. There is too much money to be made from promoting fear and hysteria.

Doesn't matter. Reality is exposing AGW for what it always was - a perfectly normal short cycle warming period that was hyped & torqued with great PR into a cash cow for Al Gore and a political sledgehammer for the socialist enviro jihadis who hate free markets and success. What couldn't be achieved through the Club of Rome or the Population Bomb looked so possible through the demonization of carbon, the foundation of life.

How much money has Al Gore scammed off the the whole AGW ponzi scheme ? $300 million ? $500 million $

Do you think Al Gore or David Suzuki will ever apologize for their part in The Great Scam ?

I doubt it.

Kudos to you Jonathon for promoting this event! I will be there (and I also blogged about it here). By the way, will you be there? It's been a long time since I last saw your friendly face! By the way, I didn't know you wrote for Granville Magazine... got to check that out!
