Hey Larry. I agree I don't want an overly large title. But if I make a logo and paste in the image, I think it may no longer have an automatic link to my homepage (ie. if you're reading an archived article, it's easy to get back to my homepage by clicking the title at the top).

So, for the coding, I'm just as clueless - hence, the contest. Hopefully, a Wordpress geek will be kind enough to spend two minutes providing the answer.

But perhaps for my image change, I could just have a water scene. I was hoping to keep SOMETHING that looks vaguely Vancouver-ish, since most of my posts are inspired by stuff that affects this city and the people who live here. Then again, maybe stressing the Vancouver connection is unnecessary and overdone?

Hmmmmmmm... I guess it was time for a redesign, anyway.

I'll have to

JN

I think an overtly large title would destroy the essence but a little bigger for those of us who are visually impaired would be nice.

As for coding: to be succinct - not a clue. I'm disabled in that department. But I'm sure there are others who might be able to help.

Have you given any thought to a logo? Something like 3 - 5 squiggly lines suggestive of a current.

Hmmm. I'll have to give my new header picture a rethink, now that you bring it up. Thanks for the tip! But I think I may have worded my contest somewhat misleadingly (and will have to edit the rules a bit to clear it up).

I'm actually dead-set on changing the code in my template to give myself a bigger title, possibly in a different font like Arial Black.

I just don't know how to change the template. If you do know how to manipulate the title code in the template, send in your suggestion and the $10 charity prize is yours.

I'm not big on clutter. Widgets and such are toys that distract from the blog and are a waste of page real estate. That is, unless you are hoping to turn it into a money machine in which case, fill your boots.

Toast the header picture. IMO it really has no relavance to you as a word-smith, the topics you discuss or the style of your writing. Also stay with one font style in your column headings. It hurts the eyes.

As for the title "brand" it up a bit, but not OTT. Some of the best designed blogs are minimalist but not to the extreme. I think this would upscale the cache of your thoughts.
If this is brutal, I apologize.

I'm just sayin..............
