CityView: Social Disorder Issue in Vancouver Election 2008
All the candidates in Vancouver’s municipal election say homelessness and our social disorder problems are huge issues for our city, if not THE issue (Vancouver Sun). OK, WE are all agreed on the problem. But if we really want to get the problems in the downtown eastside and the rest of the city licked, we’re going to need the support of bigger stakeholder.
Isn’t there a Canadian federal election on? There’s still time for our national leaders to do something about the downtown eastside blues.

Funny how it goes, nobody really agrees on one definite position as to whose responsibility is homelessness (federal, provincial, municipal). Ah, intergovernmental relations
During an election this issue would be on the plate as small potatoes.
