Globe & Post: The RCMP Aren’t Just Arrogant. They’re Out of Control
Another arrogant response from the RCMP. Stonewalling the justice system on the investigation of Robert Dziekansky’s videotaped death by cop is making our country look bad. For those who may not remember, the killing at Vancouver airport was an international incident.
These cops have come a long way from the upright ways of Dudley Do-Right and have started to resemble Vladimir Putin’s old pals.
From the Vancouver Sun story:
“This is just such an unbelievable set of circumstances,” Kosteckyj said. “We’re talking about 20 or 30 seconds. Why would it take so long for the RCMP to complete their report? It leaves the impression they’re delaying in the hope the public will forget.”
Maybe they’ve never heard of the adage that justice delayed is justice denied.
UPDATE: It just keeps getting better. One of the police officers accused of being involved with Robert Dziekansky’s death (“accused” being a fairly generous term for a guy caught on videotape) has now been charged with impaired driving in a man’s death (Winnipeg Sun).
These are the kinds of people the top cops appear to be covering up for? Yikes.

Nice smear.
When did presumption of innocence go out the window ?
You should be ashamed – convicting before trial, putting up the drive by innuendo smear about the driving charges. How fascist of you.
Sure you are not just one of those NDP tiny brained cop hater at heart ?
Wow. I’ve been accused of being NDP.
At least that’s a first.
oooo. Opinions with a tazer edge. Shocking! :>)
Nice one, Larry! You might say your comment was electrifying.
Hmmmm. I’m surely burning in Hell for that one.
These cops need oversight, training, compassion, language skills and alternative tactics for deflating situations rather than arrogance and weapons.
and please don’t accuse me of being NDP! i am not.
j.
Ghoulish thought about burning in hell. Not yet! Friday has possibilities.
I just naturally assumed you were a Green Party guy, Mr. Happyfrog. Hmmmm. Well, at least I know which party you support in the USA.
In case anyone else thought I was being unduly harsh on the cops for appearing to have reckless disregard for public safety:

Are we just having a bad week, or are RCMP recruiters scraping the bottom of the barrel?
