I would note that Hamas can't skate; that Fatah can't dance; and that Jews generally can't boogie. However! Let's pipe up some good THC, JN., and go see *Defiance* tomorrah/ today.

Melville's comment is a perfect example of a disturbing phenomenon I've noticed from the willing stooges of Hamas: Anyone who explains the right of Israel as a democratic UN-member state to defend itself from rocket attacks is not merely seen as being aligned with the "Little Satan", but accused of being guilty of violent acts.

Notice Melville's language: It's not the IDF "destroying their infrustrucrue" (sic). It's not the IDF "killing their kids". It's me. I am personally wandering around Gaza causing mass destruction and terror.

It's this kind of sick thinking that leads gangs of Muslim youth in Europe to beat up Jews, jihadi-spouting thugs to firebomb synagogues, and other Muslim fascists to target Madonna for beheading, from the perspective that maiming or killing Jews in North America or Europe will somehow solve the conflicts in Gaza, Kashmir or Chechnya.

I've let Melville's comment stay only as an illustration of the phenomena, but I will automatically delete any comment from this lunatic in future.

You're concerned about what the state of women in Gaza will be after you're done destroying their infrustrucrue, killling their kids, attacking thier school and buildings, blocking paramedics from reaching their loved ones and terrorizing them. Talk about hubris

The langauge of war, domination and destruction seems to me identical to that of chauvinism and patriarchy. It's well past time for you to seriously reconsider your approach

Here's the title of a piece from the Downtown Eastside Enquirer on the rally at the synagogue last Thursday:

A Thousand Israel Supporters Turn Out to "Battle for Truth" Rally in Vancouver.

Regarding the lives of women in Islam, I call it "whimmitude."

You are correct when you say that sexism and patriarchy are questions internal to the Palestinian society. And I worry in particular that as as relgious political factions gain sway, that these groups will impose their will and seek to restrict womens lives and choices. Amnesty International for example documents the rise of violence against women in Palestine which often goes unpunished. But the same report also shows how women in particular bear the brunt of the Israeli occupation. Tens of thousands of Palestinians - most of them women and children - have been made homeless by Israeli home demolitions, the report says. The organisation blames the Israeli military for not allowing Palestinian women unimpeded access to medical treatment.
Scores of women have been forced to give birth at army checkpoints, the group say.

How is it that you are able to reconcile support a blockade on Gaza which has brought about a humanitarian crisis according to the Red Cross? You support a the a bombardment which has killed over 900 people, many of them women and children, tearing apart familes and making people internal refugees. It is rapidly turning Gaza into a kind of squalid, hopeless ghetto disconnected friom the outside world, preciselu the kind of conditions in which fundementalist patriachy tends to flourish.
