The Prince of Peace

Published by jnarvey at 7:09 pm under Current Events, USA, barack obama

I find out over breakfast this morning that US President Barack Obama gets the Nobel Peace prize. By the time I get home from work, ever pundit from the far left to the far right has already said just about everything that needs to be said.

So there’s really only one final thing to say at the end of the day.

Congratulations, Mr. President.

Every pundit on the planet weighed in on this one. But that didn’t stop me from stuffing my opinion in there somewhere. The short answer is that it’s undeserved, but it goes to show how powerful Obamania is.

Is it Obamamania? That’s part of it. But I like to think, as Obama has said, that the prize is not so much for him but for what America now represents: a more hopeful and inspiring actor on the world stage.

Reflections on who was passed over and previous recipients of similar ‘qualifications’ were most interesting. Obama said he didn’t deserve it. I have no quarrel with his informed opinion.
