Does the Winter Olympics cause homelessness or something? I don't get it.

Their goal is to oppose everything that doesn’t fit into their narrow definition of what is a worthwhile public expenditure.

These misguided people complain that the Olympics are a waste of tax dollars.

Yet the funding actually comes from a combination of corporate and public funding and everyone in the community will share the legacy of these games by way of new infrastructure and increased tourism.

Just because the money is spent and the games are a go doesn't mean you wrap things up and go home. If you have a moral/ethical/whatever issue with the games (as I do) then your voice needs to be heard right up to and throughout the games.

The "point" of these protests is to provide a voice for the very common alternative point of view. In our society silence implies agreement.

My 2 cents worth.

great deception. instead of actually investigating what the antagonists are trying to let fellow canadians and global citizens know, you continue, like the rest of canada's lame media, to ridicule and personify them as illegitimate extremists. just as not all pro-olympic persons are fascists, perhaps just maybe not all protestors are extremists. get a clue, PLEASE stop only identifying with the masses so that maybe we can get some real perspective through.

thank you for making the new scapegoats (read homeless) the olympic protestors.

don't you remember what the world thought about china's human right's abuses? how was it that we so easily sympathised with the marginalised in china, so much so, that our prime minister stephen harper boycotted the opening ceremonies - with canadian support. and now that it's our turn, we don't even give the protestors a chance to say anything more than what they shout. why is it that we gave soundbytes to chinese olympic protestors and not even our fellow taxpayers?

ridiculous. and i'm an olympic supporter.

These protesters are simply a group of no-brain, attention seeking losers who are simply emulating the antics of the other no-brain protesters who disrupted the torch relay for the Beijing summer games. The only difference between them is that this crowd doesn't even have the intelligence to come up with something novel. They have to copy the actions of their predecessors. They are no better than the nutters who pull off any kind of stunt to get a chance at a reality show. They are all sick.

I wish CTV could take a critical look at the Olympics instead of being just a cheerleader.
