When you live in an ideological echo chamber, it's not hard to become deaf to political realities. Sad, really.

Paul Martin treated Jean Chretien the same way that Jean Chretien treated John Turner.

Revisionist historian, Dion's wife Janine Krieber says

"If the Toronto elites had been more in tune, humble and realist"

What? if Stephane Dion had been more in tune, humble and realistic he would have won the election. He was none of those 3 words. Those were his biggest problems.

"A party where work ethic and competence would be respected and where smiles would be real." Dion may have worked hard and he may have been a competent minister. But as a national leader he was politically incompetent in the extreme. He committed political malpractice. He was the most incompetent Leader of the Liberal party in my memory, possibly in history.

The smart, effective political spouse is supposed to balance out the areas in which the politician is weak, not to reinforce the weaknesses and increase the denial.
