If You Don’t Like the Olympics Don’t Come to Vancouver

At least, don’t try to get here from the USA. You’ll be turned back (like this guy was) by border agents who seem to have been instructed that merely opposing the Olympics is a threat to public order.

Remind me again, who cuts our border agents’ checks: the feds or the IOC?

Get the book or google “Five ring circus ” by I think it is by David Smith . It uncovers a lot of crap and the power the IOC has. It is an eye opener.

CTV paid a boatload of money for the 2010 Olympics; so did NBC. Neither will get one minute of consideration from me.

Neither will any other broadcaster’s “news” on the games, for that matter. They are irrelevant to me.

The only thing the whole Olympic “experience” gave me, while living in Vancouver, was high blood pressure at the arrogant antics that surround it. Now that I’ve left BC — and the debts this exercise in chest-beating has run up, both financial and societal — I am calm again.

When they were “my” officials, I needed to worry. Now they’re someone else’s. Thank goodness!

To the athletes: have a good time. To the fans: enjoy. Just don’t expect me to give a damn about your little party.

I guess most of BC shouldn’t come to Vancouver then. The media are all working hard at promoting this debacle, and one of their tactics has been to minimalize dissent. They suggest that only a very small percentage of people are opposed to the Games, and that the vast majority of BC’ers are happy and excited.
I suggest that’s exactly backwards: in my own unscientific polling of retail customers where I work, hundreds upon hundreds have been sharing their disgust at the Games, while exactly 2 have said they’re looking forward to them.
Here’s a thought: since only Vancouverites got to vote on this mess, let Vancouverites pick up the bill. It should only take a few hundred years for them to pay it off.
