Which allies would that be? The USA whose usurper President(?) already announced a pull out date before the surge even began?
The British who cause more grief being there than if they were not there?
Who exactly are our Allies now?

Ummm, have you been watching the shenanigans within the Afghan Committee ? The special committee that was CREATED by Parliament in 2008 to “make frequent recommendations on the conduct and progress of our efforts in Afghanistan”. And do lots of other stuff, which the Committee has done NONE OF.

I know you know that this committee has been obsessed with the Afghan detainee issue, to the exclusion of just about everything else. But did you also know that Laurie Hawn has been regulary asking for a vote within the committee to move AWAY from the detainee thing, and get back to what the Committee was created to do ? And Laurie’s motions, of course, have always been voted down, or ignored.

And so, how was PM Harper supposed to deal with this disfunctionality, obstruction, delay, cowardice and gamesmanship ???

Jonathan, if rae and his crew hadn’t spent the last year maligning our soldiers and concentrating on the detainee non scandal, I suspect more could have been accomplished on our post 2011 role. I agree with you that the blood of our children, must not have been spilled in vain. Every one of those Canadian soldiers believed he or she was fighting for freedom.We must continue helping the Afghan people.Perhaps now even the grits are ready for an adult conversation.
