How I Became A Propagandist

Published by under politics,propaganda

The Propagandist takes stock of 2010, looking back on how it all started:

…There was less and less room for nuanced political commentary by fellows like us. For instance, we supported ideas like democracy, the universality of human rights and the notion that modernity and development were overwhelmingly good things.

But we also supported the idea of blasting dictators and global terrorists to smithereens, or throwing maniacs like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or Hugo Chavez off the nearest tall building.

So we needed a new place to hang our hats and let our voices be heard. The Propagandist was born.

And it’s been a good ride ever since.

A History Of The Middle Eastside. Buy It On Amazon!

middle east novel fiction literatureI mentioned on this blog a little while back that I wrote a novel in 2010. It’s called A History Of The Middle Eastside and it’s now available for purchase on Amazon.

If you haven’t quite finished your Christmas shopping (I know, I didn’t quite make the deadline for Chanukah) and like books, check it out. It’s a “Gangs of New York”-style allegory for the history of Zionism, international intrigues and the modern Middle East. It’s a bit surreal, like a Charlie Kaufman film, with some emulative touches of Michael Chabon’s “The Yiddish Policemen’s Union”. And violent, as you might expect from a gangster story. Er, perfect for the holiday season.

If you’re a book reviewer or political commentator (blogger or mainstream media) and interested in writing about it, I do have a limited number of review copies available. Contact me at jnarvey [AT] writeimage [DOT] ca

Cheers.

Reclaiming Your Creative Time

Published by under blogging,blogs,Vancouver

Vancouver blogger and Drupal wizard Shane Birley is getting his life back in 2011. First priority? Creating a YouTube video that seems destined to go viral, about a pug’s best friend. If you have a dog, like dogs or just think puppies are cute, you have to watch this.
