Apparently, You CAN Have Too Many Friends

Published by at 6:19 pm under social media

I just tried to add a new Friend on Facebook and a message popped up that I thought at first was some kind of Facebook developer practical joke: “Sorry, this user already has too many friends.” Well, how nice for them.

On Facebook, 5,000 friends appears to be the upper limit. I guess it makes sense. Dunbar’s number puts it at only 150, maybe 230, tops. And even for those of us who use Facebook for business networking as well as keeping tabs on old friends, 5,000 should be more than enough.

I’m going to guess it was . . …. Michael Coren. That’s the gent I tried to ‘friend’ last month on FB and got the same response – After sending him a note about it, he send a very nice email back. So we’re friends now, in a distant non-FB way. We’re both fine with that, I think.

You guessed right! That’s too funny. Thanks for the tip.
