China. A Colossus with Floors of Clay

Published by at 5:09 pm under propaganda

China is building cities so fast that it actually has ghost cities where nobody lives. One other possible outcome of this breakneck construction is construction that might break your neck. Fortunately, this young lady in Xi’An survived this infrastructure failure.

Like we’ve never had broken water mains that caused sink holes here.

You sir, get a failing grade.

My apologies. I should have used this video to help extoll the marvels of modern infrastructure engineering.

This is not an issue about Chinese ghost towns or economic issues.

It’s about a girl in the wrong place at the wrong time. Your gloating over this poor girl’s misfortune in an effort to discredit China is distasteful. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Not sure why you would infer that I was “gloating”. I wasn’t.

I’m also not quite sure how the incident would “discredit China”. If I wanted to do that, I suppose I could have written another post about self-immolating Tibetans or dissident poets getting locked up in maximum-security prisons. It still wouldn’t “discredit China” but it certainly would be “discredit” its political system and human rights record. I wasn’t going there before, but I suppose with this comment, that’s where we’ve ended up. Thanks, buddy.

It wasn’t the girl who was in the wrong place, it was the sink hole. That could have been a peasant, polit bureau or potentate. The only reason we know this wasn’t in a ghost city is no one lives there.
