Rocking Out at the Neanderthal Arts Festival

Published by at 10:08 pm under Entertainment,Vancouver

I’m heading to one of Vancouver’s coolest theatre festivals this weekend (No, NOT the Fringe Festival, which is in September). The Neanderthal Arts Festival that starts on Thursday features some very cutting-edge and memorable shows, some of which have become my favorite short plays I’ve ever been to, ever. So there.

What am I going to see this year? Not certain yet, but I’ve got my eye on a few:

  • Tyumen. “July 4th, 1941: Trapped in the boxcar of a motionless train, somewhere between Moscow and Siberia, two confined soldiers guard the rousing corpse of Vladimir Lenin.” Yes, that’s “rousing corpse”. It’s political satire.
  • God is a Scottish Drag Queen. I kind of want to go just for the title.
  • The Sunday Service. “An addictive cocktail of comedy.” Two things I like (well, minus the addiction, but that’s a technicality).

Are you in Vancouver? Going to the theatre festival? What are you going to see?
