I’m a Cold Chillin’ Free Rider

Published by at 10:07 pm under Fiction,MyLife, silly

The weather in Vancouver has turned a mite chilly lately. But I must not turn on the heat in my place.

I must have patience. Endure the cold. Ignore the frosty numbness.

Eventually, my neighbor downstairs will turn on the heat. Then, I shall have free, toasty warmth all winter long.

If I give up too soon and turn on the heat, my neighbor will bear the benefit. And I…

I shall pay the utility bill.

Never.

Turn on the damned heat, neighbor. You know you can’t win this fight. Every year, we play this game. I’ve never lost.

Give up. Throw off your sweater. Turn the dial. Make yourself comfortable. For the both of us.

Ha, Ha. I thought I was the only one who did this.

I am between 2 other condos and on the top floor of my building.

I also do not ever turn on my heat.

If I am cold I phone my next door neighbour and ask her to turn the heat up. Cheers.

heh, i live in a condo and have immigrants from a southern island who live on the floor below me. when it turns cold i do not even have to think about heat. the floors in my kitchen and bathroom are so warm it is pleasant for bare feet. on the upper floors it is win win because heat only rises.
