9/11: Views from the left coast

Six years on from the 9/11 attacks of 2001, Canadians still stand in solidarity with their southern neighbors.

Of course, not everyone is on the same page. Mobilization Against War and Occupation, based out of Vancouver, still spews the stale lies about the Taliban being a popular resistance movement valiantly fighting vampiric foreign devils in NATO uniforms. Osama bin Ladin’s old allies in the war on civilization may triumph in the end, but will they remember to thank MAWO on V-Day?

Ah, well. I’m sure CUPE is happy to have their support in their revolutionary struggle against the ruthless oppression of Vancouver City Hall.

Then there’s the Republic of East Vancouver. Kevin Potvin’s socialist rag rails ceaselessly against a 9/11-inspired Islamophobia - a terrible pattern of prejudice that happily for our local Muslim community does not actually exist. Nenonen, take a pill: Calling Muslim terrorists who kill innocent people (mostly other Muslims) barbaric is not bigoted - it’s just the way it is.

Of course, entire communities of useful idiots have mobilized around the banner of Vancouver 9/11 Truth, which includes as an unalterable provision of its constitution the following:

In the case of Sept 11, 2001, there exists an overwhelming body of evidence suggesting that (1) the attacks of that day could not have been carried out without complicity from within the highest levels of the US government, and (2) the official “investigation” was in fact a cover-up, by US authorities and media alike. The truth about 9/11 is not known, not because it is unknowable, but because it has been concealed.

Note to nutbars: Even Noam Chomsky calls the theory of US involvement in 9/11 hogwash.

Way to push the edge of the local lunatic fringe a little further out there, team!

The enemy of your enemy is still your enemy, you crazy Yankee dumbasses

Published by jnarvey under Al Queda, Iraq, Sunni, USA, Vancouver

There’s a new reason for Canadians to be happy they never sent our “peacekeeping” forces into Iraq.

In a move straight out of Orwell’s 1984, the USA has started arming Sunni insurgent groups that have turned on Al Queda in Iraq. These are the same Sunni groups that blow up American soldiers with improvised explosive devices, kill hundreds of civilians with suicide bombings in crowded markets and drill holes in the back of their prisoners with power tools. The Sunni militias haven’t stopped doing these things, mind you - they’ve just trained their guns on the other bad guys for the moment.

As John Stewart says on the Daily Show, this plan is so crazy that… well, it’s just so freaking crazy.

When even Hezbollah thinks you’re too extreme, it’s time to call it quits

With Palestinian terrorists sitting on a huge stockpile of weapons and planning imminent attacks, the army’s patience has run out. Armored vehicles cordon off chokepoints and the camps are besieged by waves of infantry.

The thunder of artillery announces the start of the attack. Artillery shells slam into buildings, causing the fragile structures to cave in on the army’s militant targets as well as innocent bystanders. A United Nations relief convoy is attacked as a tenuous cease-fire ends mere minutes after it begins.

Arab countries condemn the violence and send weapons and support to… the army?

Yup. But it isn’t the Israeli army. Lebanese forces are fighting Palestinian militants who have turned a refugee camp into Fatah Islam’s terrorist base. Tellingly, the Lebanese are doing so with the support of Arab governments and even have the backing of uber-Islamic militant group Hezbollah (for the simple reason that Hezbollah are Shia and Fatah Islam are Sunni. Can’t all the nutjobs just get along?)

Meanwhile, Israelis are fighting Palestinian terrorists in Gaza that have launched about 150 rockets at Israeli civilian centers just this week.

Arab television network managers must be having an awful time trying to maintain their usual balanced perspective to current events in the Middle East.

At this rate, Palestinians hoping to win their state through violent resistance can count on achieving their goal sometime in the fifth millenium.

Kevin Potvin, Al Queda stooge, in his own words

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr78vZTLja0]
The Green Party of Canada has finally gotten around to dumping Vancouver-Kingsway candidate Kevin Potvin after it was discovered that the magazine store owner cheered the 9/11 attacks and had a soft spot in his heart for Osama bin Ladin.

It took nearly a week for the Green party to send this guy packing, during which party leader Elizabeth May asked for an apology and explanation and was rewarded by Potvin with more ideological posturing and useless, rambling rationalizations.

At least they did get around to giving Potvin a well-deserved boot, but the delay should certainly prompt people to wonder why the Green party caters to such people in the first place.
